If
you just signed up and are wondering "now what?" then
this is the place for you!
What
To Do First
We
recommend that the first thing you do is access your control panel
and then change your password. Your control panel allows you to
do everything you need to create and maintain your site. You can
access your control panel by typing your ipaddress/menu in
the address bar of your browser. Once your domain registration/transfer
has taken place you will be able to access your control panel by
typing yourdomainname/menu in the address bar of your browser. You
should have received a welcome email from us that included your
user name, password and ip address.
Once
in the control panel click on the Change Password icon.
Enter
your old password in the first field. Enter you new password in
the second field. Re-enter the new password exactly the same way
in the third field. IMPORTANT NOTE: Passwords must not be longer
than EIGHT characters. Passwords are case sensitive.
What
To Do Next
If
you will be using Microsoft FrontPage you will need to install FrontPage
Extensions before you publish your site. IMPORTANT NOTE: Change
your control panel password before you install FrontPage Extensions.
To
install FrontPage extensions, click on the FrontPage Extensions
icon in your control panel.
After
the FrontPage Extension Manager displays click on the "Install
FrontPage" button. After you click the "Install FrontPage"
button you will receive a message indicating the extensions will
be installed within approximately ten minutes. For detailed information
about FrontPage Extensions, please see the FrontPage
Extensions Tutorial.
If
you are not using FrontPage to create your site:
You
can upload your site using your favorite FTP Client. We recommend
using WS_FTP or Cute FTP. Your site can be uploaded to our servers
immediately after receiving the welcome email, which will contain
the IP address for your account, plus the password for the username
chosen during signup.
When
using an FTP client to upload your files, you should upload to the
folder yourdomain-www or the www folder. The contents
of these two folders will be the same no matter which you choose.
You can create subdirectories under the main folder if you wish.
CGI-BIN
Your
cgi-bin has the following path /home/yourusername/yourdomain-www/cgi-bin
The URL to your cgi-bin is http://www.yourdomainname/cgi-bin.
This is where you can put your cgi scripts. If you put in any perl
scripts, make sure you have the permissions set to 775 for the perl
scripts to be executable. Also, be sure that the perl path in the
first line of your script is /usr/local/bin/perl. The URL
to the global cgi-bin is http://www.yourdomainname/cgi-sys
General
troubleshooting tips
Filenames
are case sensitive so they must match or you will get a file not
found error.
Transfer
perl scripts and text files as ASCII text.
Transfer
gif and jpg images as image or binary file type - MAC users should
transfer files as raw data
If
your perl script doesn't work, make sure the permissions are set
right either on the scripts, or files and directories they write
to. Also check the paths.

Tutorial and Cute FTP
Tutorial.
